Ray Searage #788

This week's episode, a smiling, mustachioed, lefthander...Ray Searage! Ray had a long road to the majors, playing for the Mets, Brewers, White Sox, and Dodgers along with a few minor league systems. In 1984 with the Brewers he had an outstanding season, giving up just 3 runs in 38 innings! That season was by one measure, the best ever. He later gave up just 2 earned runs in 29 innings for the White Sox. These streaks were remarkable, but he also had rough patches along the way. In retirement he coached at every level of the minors for multiple organizations. From 2003-2019 he worked for the Pirates, coaching from A ball all the way to the Majors, spending 10 years as their pitching coach.
