Mark Eichhorn - #749

This week, a sidearm guy with one of the greatest relief seasons in history...Mark Eichhorn! Mark nearly won an ERA title as a rookie in 1986 with 1.72. Mark went 14-6 and dominated for 157 innings...but fell 5 innings short of qualification for the AL ERA title! That is the 3rd best season by a reliever on Baseball-Reference.com by WAR at 7.3. He had a great 11 season career as a setup man winning 2 World Series with the Toronto Blue Jays!

Cecil Cooper #769

 No photo description available.

This week…we discussed Cecil Cooper! He didn’t get a chance to play full time until 27, made 5 All Star games, won 3 Silver Sluggers, 2 Gold Gloves, and became a Milwaukee Brewers legend. Cecil spent 6 years as a backup and platoon player for the Red Sox. After a trade to Milwaukee he was one of the best offensive players in baseball between 1979-83. That stretch included the strike shortened 1981, but he still averaged .320 with 25 homers and 107 RBIs over that 5 season run. He helped the Brewers win the AL in 1982 and finished in the Top 5 in MVP voting 3 times. In his two best seasons he was overshadowed by great seasons in 1980 by George Brett and in 1982 by teammate Robin Yount.
