This week, one of the biggest names in 1990s baseball! In December 1988, Cecil Fielder took a chance and went to Japan. He hit 38 homers for the Hanshin Tigers in 1989, came back to MLB where he was the first 50 home run hitter since 1977! Cecil mashed for 7 seasons with Detroit Tigers and then won a ring with the New York Yankees in 1996. Between 1990-96 he hit 258 home runs, the most in baseball.

This week…a guy who epitomized “Reds Hot” in the 1990 World Series! It’s Billy Hatcher! Billy slashed .750/800/1.250 as the Reds swept the A’s. Billy also had a notable 1986 NLCS homer for the Astros. He had a productive 12 season career and a long coaching career as well!

This week, a great hitting pitcher...and not just from a golf tee! It's Rick Rhoden! Prior to his golf career Rhoden won 3 silver sluggers, and was a very good pitcher for Dodgers, Pirates, and Yankees. He was top 5 in NL WAR 2x and a 2x all star in his career. Rick Rhoden won 79 games in the 1980s, more than any other Pirates pitcher that decade. He pitched well despite playing for some mediocre to downright bad Pittsburgh teams. He was then sent to the Yankees in a trade that brought future Cy Young winner Doug Drabek to Pittsburgh!
